چکیده
To estimate the convolutional encoder state from received data, one may use the inverse to the encoder G. However, channel errors make this method unreliable. We propose a method that uses the received data in the following way. We calculate the syndrome, and after a specific number of received syndrome values equal to zero, we expect that the corresponding received data is also error-free. The received data is then used to build the inverse and give an estimate for the encoder state. The method can be used in situations where knowledge of the encoder state helps the decoding process or for synchronization purposes. We analyze the performance of the described method with respect to state estimation error probability and the average time it takes before we can estimate the encoder state with a certain desired reliability.

BLIND PARAMETER ESTIMATION OF A RATE k/n CONVOLUTIONAL CODE IN NOISELESS CASE
This paper concerns to blind identification of a convolutional code with desired rate in a noiseless transmission scenario. To the best of our knowledge, blind estimation of convolutional code based on only the received bitstream doesn’t lead to a unique solution. Hence, without loss of generality, we will assume that the transmitter employs a non-catastrophic encoder. Moreover, we consider a c...

AbstructA parallel concatenated coding scheme consists of two simple constituent systematic encoders linked by an interleaver. The input bits to the first encoder are scrambled by the interleaver before entering the second encoder. The codeword of the parallel concatenated code consists of the input bits to the first encoder followed by the parity check bits of both encoders. This construction ...

A serially concatenated code with interleaver consists of the cascade of an outer encoder, an interleaver permuting the outer codewords bits, and an inner encoder whose input words are the permuted outer codewords. The construction can be generalized to h cascaded encoders separated by h 1 interleavers. We obtain upper bounds to the average maximumlikelihood bit error probability of serially co...
متن کاملAlgebraic aspects of two-dimensional convolutional codes
Abstnrct-Two-dimensional (2-D) codes are introduced as linear shift-invariant spaces of admissible signals on the discrete plane. Convolutional and, in particular, basic codes are characterized both in ter” of their inte-1 properties and by means of their input-output representations. Tbe algebraic structure of the class of all encoders that correspond to a given co~~volutionat code is investig...
